The<\/span> \u00ab\u00a0Case<\/span> Study Houses<\/span> Program\u00a0\u00bb<\/span> was launched in<\/span> 1945<\/span> by a young<\/span> editor<\/span> John<\/span> Entenza<\/span> California<\/span> through<\/span> his journal<\/span> \u00ab\u00a0Arts<\/span> &<\/span> Architecture\u00a0\u00bb<\/span>. Under the<\/span> program, the<\/span> magazine<\/span> uses<\/span> different architects<\/span> to<\/span> consider a draft<\/span> house<\/span>. The<\/span> project<\/span> is<\/span> built<\/span> and<\/span> furnished<\/span>. It is then<\/span> brought to the attention<\/span> of all<\/span>: first published<\/span> in the pages of<\/span> \u00ab\u00a0Arts<\/span> and Architecture<\/span>\u00ab\u00a0, the villas are then<\/span> open to the public<\/span> for a certain period<\/span> and finally<\/span> sold.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

This<\/span> initiative<\/span> has several goals<\/span> designated by<\/span> Entenza<\/span>. It is<\/span> first of all<\/span> to promote<\/span> to the public<\/span> a<\/span> new way of conceiving<\/span> the domestic architecture<\/span>. It also<\/span> seeks to provoke<\/span> the<\/span> public<\/span> cez<\/span> a new requirement<\/span> of<\/span> architectural quality<\/span> for their<\/span> own homes.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
